Thank you for sitting with us today. Can you start out by sharing a little bit about you and your company?
Allison Eden Studios is an art house for all custom glass mosaics. Specializing in original handcrafted, one of a kind pieces, Allison has created her signature style of wild patterns, bold colors and almost impossible cuts by hand, and has taken the most ancient art known to man and transformed it into a modern day art. Allison Eden's signature art can be seen in both commercial and residential projects throughout the world. the studio opened in 1995 in NYC and since become one of the most sought after glass houses in the world.
So, I'm excited to dive into your latest project. Can you start out by sharing a little bit about how this project came to be?
This wonderful project originated in Palm Beach at Ceramic Matrix, The designer Christine Zucchini knew she had a client that wanted a unique over the top tile for her home. She didnt want the norm and wanted to feel as if she was in a tropical garden. The client had very specific ideas of what she wanted, The clients are avid travelers and art collectors wanted a masterpiece in tile-
We often gloss over a very important aspect of design, "What was the design challenge" for this project?
The design challenge was showing how my pencil drawing would translate into a 8 ft x 300 ft wrap aroud bathroom and show the client how it would look. I created a full scale print out in vinyl that the contractor Richard Smith could wrap around the whole room .Since there were cabinets going in certain places -We were able to adjust some of the plants and foliage so not to lose an important element behind the sink- Once the vinyl was up - The customer fell in love and the Tropical Forest was able to be started

Now, working with your client, what was their vision and what was the original project scope?
Create a glass mosaic tile that would transform the bathroom into a tropical palm leaf jungle.
Now that you have the scope and project visualized, what does your team look like? And how do you go about executing on the vision?
Allison Eden Studios utilizes our team of skilled glass artisans from concept to completion. Starting with a basic sketch rendering of the space, then a control sample, once approved then progress pictures through completion.
Now, we all have some key features of a project that we are especially proud of. What were some aspects of this project that you were excited about?
We were especially excited to work with a client that collects art and appreciates color and design. This client had a vision and needed an artist's guidance and execution to accomplish that goal.
Now, not every project goes as planned. What design hurdle did you and your team encounter,? And how'd you overcome it?
The biggest design hurdle was changes from plans during construction that necessitates slight adjustments to the final mosaic tile design.
