Thank you for joining us today. Before we dive into your latest project, can you share a little bit about yourself and your company?
I am Lori Drinkwater from Fresh Look Design in St. Albert, Alberta. My company has been in business for 20+ years and we excel in coordinating furniture, bedding, drapery, cushions, artwork and accessories to make your home stylish and cohesive.
We take the time to understand your style preferences, functional needs and personal vision, creating a space that is uniquely yours.
We also have a curated selection of high-quality home accessories and artwork that we can incorporate in your design.
So, let's dive into your latest project. Can you share a little bit about the client and the context of the project?
My client was a professional that worked long hours in her job. She wanted a bedroom where she could watch tv, read a book and relax in after a hard days work.
She loved the location, space and layout of her bedroom, but wanted to elevate it.
So, each project has its, let's call it its "challenge". What aspect of this design was a challenge from the onset?
Tasked with finding the same narrow hardwood floor to put in her bedroom and office, I went to visit my supplier and was able to find it before the last quantity was gone. It was discontinued after that.

Now that we know the challenge. What was your vision for the project?
The picture above is a before picture.
We found a elegant fabric and built the whole scheme around that including the three beautiful custom yellow euro pillows and an exquisite rectangular striped knife edge zippered pillow.
My customer also wanted custom drapes to frame the view from her bedroom. We chose to incorporate the color of the large pillow in the draperies to keep it simple. Her new beautiful angular gold lamps and rich colored artwork and accessories added a touch of glamour to her space. We painted the walls with Gossamer Veil from Sherwin Williams SW 9165, the trim and doors in a Benjamin Moore OC-23 and a feature wall in a moody Benjamin Moore AF-565 Mysterious (how fitting).
So, now you have the scope and vision. Walk us through your team of vendors, reps and specialists you leveraged to make this a reality?
We sourced our fabrics from Rainbow Draperies in Edmonton, Alberta. Our floors came from Paramount Flooring in Edmonton and the accessories where from several locations and some from our on-line home accessory and artwork store at www.freshlookdesign.store.
With each project, there are certain rooms or aspects of the design that we are especially proud of. What were some key features that you enjoyed the most?
My designs incorporate the use of color, texture and shapes to bring them all together. Fresh Look Design loves to create a home that embodies your unique style, without lifting a finger. From initial consultation to final reveal, we manage every aspect of your decorating project.
Design projects can easily become a money pit, without the right team. What design hurdle did you guys encounter? And how'd you solve it?
As previously mentioned, we secured the hardwood flooring that matched their existing flooring in other rooms, therefore making it a more sustainable choice, especially since hardwood can be sanded several times.

We decided to preserve the existing flooring for the most cost savings.
