Dear Colorado Metro Area BIPOC and LatinX business owners,
I am thrilled to share some incredibly exciting news with you all today. It is an honor and a privilege to announce that I have been selected as the new and first cultural ambassador for the non-profit "Gap Fund" provider, Energize Colorado. This esteemed organization is dedicated to serving the BIPOC and LatinX communities by bridging funding gaps and creating opportunities for aspiring businesses and founders. Join me on this unique opportunity to work together to empower our communities and pave the way for a brighter future for more business owners who may struggle to gain access to funding resources.
You may not know this about me, but my grandparents (my Nana and Tata) were immigrants to the United States, raised 10 healthy and successful children. They both passed having never learned English, yet navigated the US system to work and raise their family. As a fully English speaking entrepreneur, I often struggle to find resources and gain access to funds for my own ventures. Many times, I would sit and reflect while at local business and startup events, that my own grandparents would NOT attend many of these same events, simply because the events were not in Spanish, and were not presented by people that looked like my grandparents. Many of the events and opportunities that I attend, are in neighborhoods that my grandparents would not normally visit.
As I take on this role, my heart is for my grandparents. I would like to leverage my role to make funding more accessible to founders where they live and are.
